Dawn Hannum

Dawn Hannum, age 70, of New Castle, Delaware, died Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at home with loved ones.

Dawn was a graduate of Claymont High School. She worked for Sun Oil, and then for 40 years worked at the Delaware House in managerial positions. She was a member of Atonement Church (formerly Atonement United Methodist Church).

Dawn is survived by her sisters, Gail Matikonis of Claymont, and Jayne Dunn of New Castle, her sister-in-law Catherine Hannum of Newark, her nieces and nephews Bryan and Christine of Bear, Heather of Smyrna, Marc and Virginia of Clayton, Ray and Denise of Claymont, Tina and Steve of Oxford, Leanne and Brandon of Wilmington, Lauren and Kendall of Downingtown, and her great-nieces and -nephews Jordan, Vienna, Tyler, Sloane, Braddock, Erik, Tyler, Charlise, Anthony, Tricia, Ava, Parker, Tony, Angelina, Gianna, Andrew, her 5 great-great-nieces and -nephews, and many friends and family.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Dorothy Hannum, and brothers William and Harry Hannum.
