Dawn Kokoszka Krieger, age 70, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, with her husband, Roy remaining close by her side and never letting go of her hand. For so many years, Dawn fought through her medical challenges with courage and dignity, but her long struggle has now come to an end, and she is finally at peace joining her parents Milton and Mary Kokoszka and her Auntie Ann and Uncle Stew in heaven.
Dawn was born and raised in Bethel Township, PA and was a graduate of Garnet Valley High School. Upon graduation, Dawn spent many years working within the insurance industry, building a successful professional career and providing guidance as a pension analyst for several trade unions. Dawn was considered a “wealth of knowledge” when it came to her job, and everyone knew who to go to with their questions. In her younger years, Dawn enjoyed archery, her Raggedy Ann collection and trying new recipes. Dawn’s favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed getting together with her family. Whether it was a holiday or a picnic in her backyard, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and extended family, but we all know that it was the “appetizers” that came with those occasions that really made her smile!! Dawn had a tremendous love for animals and especially cars. Our hope is that heaven has finally blessed her with that vintage Mustang she always wanted to own!
Dawn was a wonderful wife, sister, stepmother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Dawn leaves behind Roy, her husband of 44 years, who remained her strength and support when her health challenges began to increase and limit what she was able to do on her own. Roy will continue to cherish the memories they shared together, remembering all the good times, whether they were traveling, shopping or just spending time at the park watching the ships sail by. Dawn is also survived by her two sisters, Andrea Gray and Debbie Kokoszka Syva (Ron Syva); two stepdaughters and their families, Dawn Pratt (Craig) and Diane Towe; two grandchildren, Ryan and Melissa, as well as her favorite nieces and nephew, Nancy Valichka, Karen Gray, Michelle Morris and Robert Morris and their children. She is loved by her family and will be missed deeply by so many.
Visitation will be held at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont DE 19703, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 10am to 11am, where a funeral service will begin at 11am. Interment will be private in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
