Born in Marcus Hook, PA, Dorothy Palmer of Claymont, DE and formerly of Lewes, DE, passed away on July 26, 2021 at the age of 94, surrounded by her big, loving family. She was predeceased by her dear husband of 65 years, Charles Thomas Palmer, her parents, Charles and Ida Kirby and her brother, Charles “Sonny” Kirby, whom she loved very much.
Early in life, Dorothy enjoyed dancing to the Big Band sounds. She and her husband enjoyed bowling together and in singles leagues. She participated in many state and national championship tournaments.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She raised seven children, attending all the many activities they were involved in. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her next pride and joy. She doted on all of them and was affectionately known as Mom-Mom.
After raising her family, Dorothy became the Assistant Manager of a movie theater, and the Manager of the gift shop at the Cape May - Lewes Ferry in Lewes, DE. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting many states and attractions, including Nova Scotia on their 50th wedding anniversary.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her children, Charles Thomas Palmer, Jr. and wife Angela, Deborah Palmer-Sutter and husband Chuck, Jacqueline Palmer and wife Paula Thomas, Terrence Palmer and wife Chris, Michael Palmer and wife Joanne, Jeffrey Palmer and wife Denise, and Mark Palmer and wife Michele, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
