Esther E. Hollis

Esther Evelyn Hollis, age 85, of New Castle, DE passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Seasons Hospice in Newark, DE.

Born in 1933, Esther was the daughter of the late Louis Joska and Mary Alice Wilkins. Esther retired from the Bank of Delaware and acted as primary caregiver to her husband George. Esther was a proud and active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, where she led a Monday Bible Study Group. Esther enjoyed long rides in the car, talking to her many friends and spending time with her family and her kitty Sophie. She was a big Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Flyers fan. But most of all she will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt and friend to many.

Esther is survived by her son, George W Hollis Jr., and his wife Cheryl O. Hollis, her stepdaughter, Leslie Cole, and her husband Ritchie, her brother, Robert Joska, and his wife Florence, her nieces, Justine Joska and Donna Lee, and her husband Ronnie, along with many other nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George W. Hollis Sr.

A Celebration of Esther’s Life will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:00pm at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701. Family will begin to receive guests at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, Esther’s family suggests contributions be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church or Season’s Hospice, Newark, DE.
