Gilda Louise (Primaldi) Youngblood, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022 at Accent Care Hospice in Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE with her family by her side.
Gilda was born in Wilmington, DE on January 3, 1928, daughter of the late Luigi and Lucia Rosato Primaldi.
A native Delawarean, Jill attended St. Elizabeth’s and Mt. Pleasant Schools. She enjoyed roller skating, dancing, knitting, crocheting as well as gardening, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her extended family laughing and telling stories. Gilda had a calling to serve others by caring and helping to meet other’s needs. She lived out this calling by working at Riverside Hospital where she retired after 21 years of nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, William, and her devoted daughters, Anita Williamson (Charles), of Snellville, GA, Donna Youngblood, of Bear, DE, Barbara Jean Wood (Robert), of Sunnyvale, TX, Judy Coll (John) of Wyoming, DE; four grandsons, Randy, Ryan, Andrew, Matthew; three granddaughters, Pamela, Lauren and Kara; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Olivia, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Shavico and Lucy Strickler; her brothers, Tony Primaldi, Philip Primaldi, Alfred Primaldi, Louis Primaldi, Albert Primaldi, Frank Primaldi, John Primaldi, and Raymond Primaldi.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Biasotti and devoted caregivers, Dori Fostok, Latreast Willis, Sarah DeCollo and Shanyse Lee for their kindness and exceptional care.
A Viewing will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 from 11:00am until 11:45am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
