JOHN CHARLES "Charlie" KEENER, age 80,of Claymont, Delaware passed away on September 30, 2022. He was born on October 21, 1941, to John E. and Reba E. Keener of Millersville, Pennsylvania.
After school, he served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate in the United States Navy. He then went on to do an apprenticeship and start his lifelong career as an Industrial Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic for York International. He was also a member of the Steamfitters Local 420 of Philadelphia, PA, for over 45 years.
He is predeceased by both parents, former wife Loriel A. (McGrann) Keener, and his son David C. Keener. He is survived by his sister Kathryn R. Keener, son James C. Keener and his wife Susan K. Frampton, daughter Carolyn A. Andracsek and her husband Robert A. Andracsek, and granddaughter Tess K. Inker and her husband Hannibal P. H. Inker.
John "Charlie" Keener was an avid gardener, fisherman, archer and hunter during his life, and he endeavored to pass on these skills to his children.
Per his request, there will not be a funeral. However, a small private memorial will be held for the immediate family.
Those who wish to remember John "Charlie" Keener in a special way can support a National Park of their choice. A particular park he enjoyed is The Pine Creek Gorge in Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
