John C. Houck

John C. Houck, “Jack”, age 101, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021.

John was born on April 12, 1919 in Elk Mills, Maryland.  He was the son of the late John W. Houck and Bess Mann Houck.  He graduated from Elkton Maryland High School in 1937.

John entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Technician Fifth Grade (T5) in 1946.  He served in both France and Belgium as an electrician maintaining electrical lines and installing lines in Army Hospitals.  He retired from the DuPont Experimental Station after 39 years.  John was a fifty year member of the the DuPont Country Club.  He joined Del Vets Post # 1 in 1946 serving many roles including commander and was active in the club for many years.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor M. Houck, his son, Carroll W. Houck and his sister, Elaine H. Maclary. 

John is survived by his daughter, Elaine H. Bonner and her husband, Daniel P. Jr.; his grandsons, Daniel P. III (Kim), John M. Bonner (Diana); and his great grandson, Nicholas.

The Funeral Service and Burial will be private.
