John F. Smith III

John F. Smith III, age 72, of Wilmington, DE passed away April 10, 2021.

John graduated in 1968 from Mt. Pleasant High School.  In the late 1960’s and 1970’s, he worked at his Dad’s business Jack Smith’s Towing and Service Center as a tow truck driver and yard operator.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Smith and his brother, Thomas “Smitty” Smith.  He is survived by his brother, James Smith (Eva); sisters, Julia Smith, Margaret Thompson (Ralph); several nieces and nephews; companion, Pat Hartis; and caregiver, Michelle Hartis.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 1pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may visit with the family from 11am to 1pm. All attending will be required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing to maintain compliance with State COVID-19 Regulations.  Admittance will be regulated.  Entombment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
