Joseph A. Haley III Obituary

Joseph A. Haley III “Uncle Joe”, age 89, passed away on September 19, 2018. 

Joe was born in Wilmington, DE to Joseph A. Haley, Jr. and Anne Celia (Dougherty) Haley.  He graduated from Salesianum School in 1947.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force.  Joe was a loyal and longtime property manager for H.B. DuPont and later, for Henry DuPont who was his longtime friend.  Joe enjoyed country music, fishing, traveling, RVing, Philadelphia sports teams and going to Delaware Park.  Joe was active in the Lions Club for many years. Mostly, Joe enjoyed sharing stories and a laugh with his family and friends, who will miss him dearly.  

Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Rose (nee’ Sperka) and his brother, Michael Haley.   Joe is survived his sister, Mary Louise Jones (Francis) and brother, John H. Haley (Gail). He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and his best friend, Aidan.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church Cemetery.

Joe’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff who have provided excellent care over the past few years.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707.
