Katherine S. Wetzel

Katherine S. Wetzel, age 95, of Claymont DE, formerly of Pennington NJ, passed away at Saint Francis Hospital, Wilmington, DE on Thursday, December 27, 2018.

She was born in Minersville, PA to Margaret and John Scheifele and had two brothers, Jack and Leonard Scheifele, both deceased.

Katherine and her husband, Clyde W. Wetzel, deceased, of Ashland PA, were married in 1944 and moved to Pennington, NJ, where they built and lived in their home together for over 59 years.  She was a member of the Pennington Presbyterian Church and was employed by Pennington Quality Market.

A gifted seamstress, Katherine enjoyed sewing and doing needlepoint. She especially loved making outfits and wall hangings for her family. Homemade items were her specialty and included her famous spaghetti sauce, her chocolate covered caramels and her delicious nut bread. In addition, she found great joy in gardening and woodworking.   

She is survived by her children, Beverly Daly (Jack) of Wilmington, DE, Keith Wetzel of Claymont, DE, Priscilla Lyons (Richard Jr) of Davenport, FL, Wendy Jamison (Wayne) of Langhorne, PA; and her grandchildren, Ken Wetzel, Danielle Lyons, Brent Jamison and Ryan Jamison.  Her great granddaughter, Diaujanay Wetzel, resides in California.

A viewing will held Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am.  Burial will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pennington Presbyterian Church, 13 South Main Street, Pennington NJ 08534; or the Langhorne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Gilliam Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047.
