Mary Ann Furman, age 87, of Claymont, Delaware passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2018. Born in Philadelphia, Ann was the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann (Cannan) Mastro.
After a long career at Colonial Parking in Wilmington, Ann dedicated her retirement years and talents to fulfilling the needs of her surrounding community. She held the position of secretary for the Claymont Chapter of AARP, was a Delaware Hospice volunteer, a member of Holy Rosary Church for over 50 years, a dedicated member of the church’s prayer chain and a volunteer at its food closet. In her free time, Ann enjoyed dining out, going to the theater, traveling and spending time in Wildwood Crest and Cape May, New Jersey with her family.
In addition to her parents, Ann is predeceased by her first husband, Carmen Montanaro; her second husband, Francis Furman; her son-in-law, Paul R. Pipher, II; her sister, Barbara Lawler; and her niece, Diane Lawler.
Ann will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Michael Coughlan; her daughter, Cheryl Pipher; and her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Janet Montanaro; all of Wilmington; her six grandchildren, their spouses, her great-grandchildren and her friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE on Thursday, February 15 at 10:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. Interment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Ann’s memory be made to the Holy Rosary Church Food Closet, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
