Kate Jeanes (nee McKisic), age 87, a longtime resident of Wilmington DE, passed away August 3, 2022 at Wilmington Hospital surrounded by family. She was born in West Virginia on February 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert Wilson and Ruby (Houghton) McKisic.
Kate was a homemaker who enjoyed hosting game nights and family dinners (old favorites and trying out new recipes). She especially enjoyed traveling/camping with her husband, Ed, quilting with her friends, and country music.
Surviving to honor Kate’s memory is her husband Ed of almost 67 years; sons, James Jr. of Texarkana, AR, Michael (Maggie) of Warwick, MD, Kenny (Cheryl) of Wilmington, DE, David Sr. (Charlene) of Claymont, DE; sister, Ann (Tom) Ciampa of Dover, DE. Additional survivors include her 7 grandchildren, James (Emilie), Jessica (CJ) Haines, David Jr. (Carley), Lindsey (Jon) Parrish, Mason, Brad, Kyle; and 12 great grandchildren, Caydence, Raegan, Charles, Jaxson, Paisley, Ryan, Riley, Wyatt, Piper, Julia, Kayla and Alexandra; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Kate was predeceased in death by her siblings, Junior (Thelma), Leevern (Orvil), and Jim (Sadie).
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10, from 10-11 am at Holly Oak Calvary United Methodist Church, 1511 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809 – followed by a Memorial Service starting at 11 am. We hope you’ll join us for a luncheon afterward at Ballrooms at Boothwyn, 1405 Meetinghouse Road, Boothwyn, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kate’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 (or online at stjude.org) or to Holly Oak Calvary United Methodist Church (address above).
