Patricia A. Saatman

Patricia A Saatman, 85, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026.  Born on June 6th in Springfield, MA, to Bradford and Susan Howes, Patricia was truly blessed living a full and meaningful life.  She was a 1959 graduate of Newark High School, and graduated from the University of Delaware in 1963. 

She reached and touched many folks throughout her work history.  Her first jobs were as a social worker for the state of Delaware, and also worked as a Winterthur tour guide as a short stint.  Many know her from her many years in the Delaware swimming community as an instructor and coach.  She started her swim journey at the:  Western YMCA, community pool, Holiday Hills, and at the Wilmington Aquatic Club.  Go Sea Tigers!  Patti Ann spent many years later as a Human Resources manager.  This span covered employment with: Brooks Armored Car, Delaware Park and BF Rich Door & Window Co.

Patricia married Robert Saatman in 1961 and together they shared almost 65 wonderful years together.  She will be remembered and revered for her kindness, understanding, patience and never-ending ability to help everyone she met find the best within themselves.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bradford and Susan, and her brother, Alan Howes.  She is survived by her children, Karl, Kristine and Kevin; her grandchildren, Roderich, Hetta and Milo; great grandchildren, Athena and Eleanor; and daughters-in-law, Betsy and Andrea. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 20th from 2-4 at Del Vets: 2535 Veterans Dr., Wilmington, DE 19810.  Come have a snack and beverage and tell your favorite stories.
