Patricia M. Scarcelli “P.M.S”, age 78, of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully on July 22, 2019 from respiratory failure due to complications from her long battle with dementia.

Pat was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Colwyn, PA.  She was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Philadelphia and a longtime resident of Claymont, DE, where she lived with her son, Richard Jr. “Rick”.  Pat loved cooking and spending time with her family and dogs, Jingles and Holly. She was a paralegal and dedicated most of her life helping and advocating for families and children with disabilities. Her commitment and dedication to the kids gave a voice to those who sometimes had a difficult time speaking for themselves.

Pat was married 50 years to her late husband, Richard Scarcelli, Sr. She had a love for the beach and listening to 80's music. She was admired for her caring, sharing and loving personality that radiated to anyone she was around.

Pat was predeceased by her husband, Rich, brother, Joe Nearey of West Chester PA, as well as her beloved pets, Cinnamon, Sugar, Nutmeg and Prancer. She is survived by her son, Ricky, daughter, Anita (Bill) all of Claymont, DE; brothers, Tom Nearey (Betty) of Villas, NJ, Ed Nearey (Shirley) of Colwyn, PA; sister, Kay Shinn (Butch); sister-in-law, Diane Nearey of West Chester, PA, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and of course her 4 legged family, Jingles, Holly and Buddy too.

In her passing, Pat would have wanted everyone to keep on laughing and always remember that the next time you hear thunder and lightning, it's just P.M.S. saying something smart, arguing with Rich, or just saying "Hi" to all those she loves. 

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of  Life that will be held Friday, August 2, 2019, 2pm at the Claymont Fire Company Ballroom, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where visitation will begin at 12pm. Feel free to dress casual.

In addition, Pat’s family would like to thank their extended family, The Claymont Fire Company, for all of their love and support, Pat often called them her "hero's".
