Richard K.. Knowles

Richard K. Knowles of Claymont, Delaware, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 a week shy of his 83rd birthday.  He graduated from Claymont High School in 1962.  It was there he met his High School sweetheart and spouse of 60 years.  He took great pride in his service in the Army and his many years employed by the DuPont Company.  He was happiest at his shore house in Ocean View, New Jersey creating wonderful memories with family, fishing, tinkering in his shed and tending to his vegetable garden.  He loved sharing his home grown Jersey tomatoes with friends and family. 

Richard is survived by his devoted daughters Renee Hughes (Charles) and Kristen Cahill (Brian); grandchildren, Emily Featherstone (Logan), Jacob Cahill (Eva), Carson Hughes, Ben Cahill and a great-granddaughter, Amelia Cahill: sister-in-law, Deborah Fildes (Richard) and their children and brother-in-law Kevin Davenport.

He is predeceased by his parents, Bette and Francis, and the love of his life, Bobbie.  The family is at peace knowing they are reunited at last.

Interment will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
