Richard Gregory Luyster

Richard Gregory Luyster, age 86, of Wilmington, DE, died on June 28, 2026.

He was the son of Harry and Katherine (nee Hemmler) Luyster, and brother of the late Eugene Luyster.  Richard graduated from Salesianum School in 1957, and then from LaSalle University in 1964.  He was a School Teacher at Cardinal O’Hara High School for 37 years.  After retirement he worked for several years as a volunteer at the Wilmington Library.  Richard was an avid reader, and he loved cats and ships. 

A visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11:00am until 12:00pm, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00pm.  Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
