Richard C. Hoey

Richard C. Hoey, age 78, of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. 

Richard was born in Wilmington, DE and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1964. He served in the US Army as an Engineer in France and Germany from 1964-1966.  After the service, he worked as a Union Iron Worker for Local 451 and also for Brooks Armored Truck. Rich had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Terrace Athletic Club, Inc.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, JoAnna Hoey; daughters, Leann Hoey, Jessica Hoey; step-sons, Michael Gordon (Katie), Charles Singleton, Robert Singleton (Kathleen); brothers, Robert Hoey (Oksana), Glen Hoey; sister, Barbara Maloney; grandchildren, Ciare, Joshua, Trinity, Zavian, Breanna, Ethan, Emma, Clara, Danielle, Robert, Corinne, Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Lucy.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 11am-12pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where a Funeral Service will follow at 12pm. Burial will be private at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE .
