Robert J. McCarthy, of St. Clair PA, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2021 at home in Wilmington DE at the age of 94.
Bobby was born on April 21, 1926 to Peter and Dorothy McCarthy. Growing up in a coal mining town, he was the oldest of five loving brothers. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served in WWII. He made a career working as a technical sales and marketing representative for Dupont. He married his high school sweetheart Betty in 1948 and enjoyed a happy marriage for almost 64 years while raising their two sons Ray and Guy.
Bobby was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a great passion for golf, westerns, dancing, supporting charities and spending time with his family. He was a devoted Catholic and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Francis Capuchin Friary.
Bobby is survived by his two sons, Ray and wife, Bonnie and Guy and wife, Nancy; brothers, Ray (Jane) McCarthy, and Francis (Barb) McCarthy; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
All services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Cancer Society.
