Robert John Thomas Obituary

Robert John Thomas, age 77, passed away peacefully following a long illness, with his wife by his side, on June 2, 2021.  He was born in Carbondale, PA and grew up in Claymont. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert H. and Joan B. Thomas.

Bob graduated from Claymont High School and Temple University. He worked for Hercules, Conrail and All States Design and Engineering. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. 

A longtime member of The Church of the Ascension, Bob served several terms on the vestry, finance Committee and was head usher for 25 years.  He enjoyed the Flyers, travel, history and genealogy.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eugenia McPherson Thomas; sister-in-law Eunice Price (David) of Athens, AL; niece, Diane Reichmann of Rossville, GA; nephews, Shannon Price of Auburn. AL and Keith Price of Birmingham, AL.  He regarded his many friends and goddaughter Phiona Fox as family. He will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 3717 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, with internment of ashes in the church memorial garden immediately following.  

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Church of the Ascension Memorial Fund, 3717 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont. DE 19703.
