Ronald R. Shaw, Sr.

Ronald R. Shaw, Sr. departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the age of 65, surrounded by loved ones.  

Ronald is survived by his siblings, Sandra, Shelba, Susan, Daniel, Donald, John and Robert; his children, Stacey, Nichole, Alleshia, Ronald Jr, Dana, Travis, Chastity, Chelsie and Jordan; his twenty grandchildren,  his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, mother, Shelba and brothers, William and Edward.

Ronald, fondly referred to as “Ron” or “Ronnie” was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on October 14, 1958. At a young age he relocated to Claymont Delaware and has resided there since. He served in the United States Army. He was a self-employed contractor and ran multiple businesses within the Claymont area which included but were not limited to: R & R Contracting, Ronnie Ray’s Christmas Trees, seasonal flower stands and his Crab stand. He was a man of many talents and was very business savvy with great motivation to work hard. There was no job too big or small for him, if it needed to be done, he would figure it out by any means necessary. He took great pride in helping others and providing community resources and opportunities. He was a man of principle who was always smiling and a true pleasure to be around.

Ronald was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His love for his children and grandchildren was paramount. One of his most treasured roles was “Pop-Pop”. He was incredibly dedicated to his family. His loving and caring nature, and kindness of his heart coupled with his selflessness was always evident in the actions he took to provide for their stability and well-being, and constantly strove to make sure he did all he could for each of them. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him personally and professionally. 

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, selflessness and love for his family.

A viewing will be held at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am.  Burial will be private.
