Sandra Joan McCracken

Sandra Joan McCracken, age 87, of New Castle, Delaware passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 13, 2023.

Sandra was born and raised in Historic Old New Castle, on April 11, 1936 to the late Charles and Alice (nee Clayton) McCracken. She graduated from William Penn High School and Goldey-Beacom College. Sandra spent most of her career as a legal secretary with the law firm of Connolly, Bove, Lodge and Hutz, where she was also the administrative assistant for the Laffey-McHugh Foundation.

Sandra enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and cooking holiday dinners for her family. She was an active lifetime member of the New Castle United Methodist Church, where she served in the Four Square Altar Guild for more than fifty years.

Sandra was preceded in her passing by her brothers, Richard and William McCracken.

Sandra is survived by her four nephews, Richard (Susan), Bill (Lori), Andrew and Paul (Denise); great-nieces and great-nephews; sisters-in-law, Jeannette, Marian and her husband, Bill; and many cousins. She is also survived by her three godsons, Rocky, Rick (Daria) and Robbie Ryan.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10am to 11am at New Castle United Methodist Church, 510 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720, where a Memorial Service will begin at 11am.  Interment to follow in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle, DE.
