Shawn Gerard Oneill

Shawn Gerard Oneill, age 65, of Wilmington, DE died on March 16, 2026.

  Exceedingly well loved, Shawn’s passing is our great loss.  Shawn graduated from Concord High School and also the University of Delaware, as an English major, and excellent student, which ignited in him a lifelong passion for literature and history. 

Books were always at his bedside, stacks of them, his constant companions.  Shawn worked as an industrial laborer and foreman, frequently traveling outside of Delaware to clean up industrial spills of one sort or another, and also having to hire and supervise work crews in remote places.

  Shawn was a very talented guitarist, playing with serious musicians much of his life, music being another interest.  He was also an amateur sketch artist where his comic abilities burned very brightly,  Shawn was reliable, loyal, understated, and witty.  He was also very interesting with many interesting lifelong friends.  He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.  Much loved by others, Shawm remained single his entire life.

Shawn is survived by his brother, Kevin, and his three nephews, Kevin, Jr., Shane and Jack

A viewing will be held at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00am until 11:00am, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00am.  Burial will be private.
