Sierra Carryn Long

Sierra Carryn Long (11/19/1992 – 9/11/2021) of Wilmington has been called to close her eyes on mortal things.  She has been healed to Glory after succumbing to complications of diabetes.  

Sierra leaves behind her loving parents, John W. Long, Jr., and Donna Eisenstein, her sister Aiyanna Long, grandparents Earle and Brenda Gould, and many cousins and international siblings (a special bond was shared with Majo Bastidas of Ecuador).  Sierra was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents who loved her more than life itself, and she is now rejoicing with them.

Sierra is a graduate of Delaware Technical & Community College.  She held a black belt in karate, and was a certified pet groomer.  She always joked that she loved animals more than most humans, and she had a passion for pit bulls and dog rescues.  Her two pitties will miss her as much as her family and friends.  Those who had the privilege to know Sierra knew her as a person who loved humor and loud music and concerts, and she brought such joy with her sharp wit and her playfulness.  Sierra wasn’t happy unless the snowball fight ran right through the house!  Her international siblings always appreciated her warm welcome into her family and her sweet spirit.  She will be forever loved and missed.  This world is not as bright without her here with us.  Twenty-eight years was not even close to enough time with her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720, from 11:00am until 12:00pm, where a memorial service will begin at 12:00pm.  Burial will be private.
