Joseph John Parkinson

Joseph John Parkinson, age 88 of Wilmington, DE passed away April 21, 2017 at Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Francis Hospital.

Joseph graduated from Claymont High School, Class of 1946. He retired from Phoenix Steel as a lab technician after 34 years of service. Joseph constructed realistic detail model ships from blueprints which he made from wood and also from tin cans. He later constructed wood carvings of various characters. He enjoyed gardening and chess.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Elfrieda Parkinson and his brother, Richard Parkinson. He is survived by his son, Thomas Parkinson of Wilmington, DE; brother, Jack Parkinson and his wife, Cathy of Claymont, DE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 11am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may visit with the family beginning at 10am. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
