Our family met Bob Cordrey over 60 years ago through Boy Scouts and we are so very grateful for that relationship. His dedication to Troop 86 helped enriched the lives of countless boys and men including those of my brother and father—both of whom have left the world before him. They might all be hiking in heaven at this moment along with many other Troop 86 alumns, Bob leading the parade. His family also welcomed ours (immigrants from Austria in a new country) and I can remember spending many fun times at Peg and Bob’s home. He had a way of uniting different personalities and always managed to make everyone laugh. We will all miss him so.

Bobby, Susan and Chrissie,

I'm so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Your mom and dad were always so welcoming to me in spite of hanging around with Jamie (lol). I always enjoyed your dad's perspective on life whether gathered around a fire in Cape May or in your home. May he rest in peace with Peg in the arms of our Lord.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. He was a big part of our formative years. He was Dan's mentor through scouts, and I practically lived at the Cordrey house. Mrs. C always said," Come here, your mom has enough kids". So then both had four kids. I have so many fond memories of the Cordrey house. Great values, genuine love of life and the little things. Bob definitely touched many lives in his 91 years. He will be dearly missed by many. Blessed to have known him and the family. Love to all!

"The Moldy One" as Bob referred to himself will be missed. His personality, sense of humor, curiosity and physical presence made him a center of attraction whenever there was a gathering. He was a morally grounded man whom I admired, respected and a role model----except for that stinky pipe.
Can't be too serious writing about Bob, he wouldn't like it. But we worked together and withstood the test of fire and remained good friends through it all.
He's probably laughing at us, sitting in front of a roaring fire place, lighting up a stinky pipe, while savoring his brandy.
Adios good friend.

Please accept our sincere sympathy for the passing of your father, Bob.. My memories of him are too numerous to count! What a wonderful man who was the role model for so many young men as he served as the Scoutmaster of Troop 86. He shared a lifelong relationship with my father, Earl and I can still hear him say, "I love you, Earl" as he considered my father his brother. I will truly miss our visits together these past few years when he resided at Somerford Place. We would reminisce about the past, have a few laughs, and truly enjoyed each other's company. It was therapeutic for both of us! May the Lord give all of you strength and comfort in the days ahead. I will always treasure your father's presence in my life.

Bob had a tremendous influence on my life and I am still proud of the fact that I became one of his" Eagle Scouts". I treasure those years and the drive and determination he instilled in all of the members of our Troop. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and be guided by his leadership. My prayers are with your family. Xavi

Chrissie,
So very sorry to hear of your father's passing. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. I got to know your dad a bit, later in life, when I met him at jazz nights at Gallucio's in Wilmington. Didn't know of his musical past. So handsome, and apparently very talented. Please share my sympathies with your family, especially your brother, who my sister, Joanne, is friends with from St. Matt's. In case your dad never mentioned it, you were "the apple of his eye." Love, Katie

Susan, To you and your family I offer my sincerest sympathies. We went to St. Matthews together not sure if you remember me. It is so difficult when we lose our parents. I have lost both of mine. But they never leave us truly. God Bless you and praying for you during this time.
